Your Course Choice

Chrysalis is not currently eligible to receive Government Funding. This means that all potential students will need to be able to self-fund our courses. Examples of what we cannot accept include: Advanced Learner or 24+ Learner Loans / Student Loans and Student Finance / Professional Career Development Loans (PCDL)

You have not indicated that you are able to fund the course - all of our students self-fund their courses. Chrysalis is not registered with any government backed schemes to help towards the funding of your course.

Some of our students do find funding through local charities or their work place as Chrysalis is a private learning provider.

We do offer a payment plan which can be discussed at interview.

Chrysalis has a duty of care to all potential students to inform you at the application stage that undertaking counselling training is emotionally and intellectually demanding as well as physically demanding in terms of travel, placement work etc. A necessary aspect of training is reflection on personal and sensitive past or current issues. These are potential risks to wellbeing. If you have been diagnosed, or have had a previous diagnosis, or are receiving treatment for or experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition associated with a fragile sense of self or identity, or if you have suffered a recent bereavement, are pregnant, or have a serious physical illness or condition, we would need to discuss this in detail with you if you were accepted for interview.

In addition, hypnotherapy taught in year 1 of the course necessitates training as a practice client with peers. For certain diagnoses, hypnosis can only be used if the practitioner is otherwise qualified to treat. This applies to certain mental health conditions as well as neurological conditions such as epilepsy and migraines, along with some physical illnesses, and would therefore preclude anyone so diagnosed to be able to undertake the course in hypnotherapy. In this event, we could discuss possible alternative training routes with you. Our courses are accredited by the National Hypnotherapy Society and the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society. As such we adhere to principles relating to trainee and qualified therapists working safely and ethically with peers and volunteers (during training) and clients (upon graduation of training). We are therefore unable to accept onto training applicants who have certain addictions or dependencies, who have been convicted of a serious offence, who are on the Barred Lists, or who have had any unresolved complaints brought against them in the field of counselling or similar.

Pregnancy and epilepsy may be contra-indicated for hypnotherapy and so medical permission will be required; whereas certain classes of illness may have safety to practice issues which need to be assessed.

In the interests of your safety, we would ask that you agree that as part of your studies, you shouldn’t undergo hypnotherapy at any time and you will in the cases of classroom practice sessions take the role of the therapist or observer, and not the role of the client. Relaxation work is generally ok if agreeable between you and your tutor dependent on the nature of this and you feel comfortable to do so. Please do be assured that this does not affect the award of your qualification to you on successful completion of your first year of study.

We would also ask that you agree that you will take full responsibility of any effects or reactions throughout your Chrysalis studies, that may occur or result during studies both in the classroom and throughout practical sessions outside of the classroom. Further that Chrysalis Not for Profit Ltd cannot be held responsible for any effects or reactions that you may sustain. This is the reason that we advise that you should not undergo hypnotherapy at any time in or out of the classroom.
